1.4 Million In Provincial Money For The Convent

Business Minister and Glace Bay MLA Geoff MacLellan announced 1.4 million dollars in provincial money this morning for New Dawn’s new arts and culture centre in northend Sydney.

New Dawn Enterprises is renovating the former Holy Angels Convent on George Street to house the centre that will be known as “The Convent.”

The building will provide studio and workspace for 150 artists and craftspeople.

The money from Invest Nova Scotia will be used to complete the building’s public art, outdoor grounds, furnishings and build a café.

The building will also house a 400 square foot gallery and four anchor tenants.
