NSHA Says 16 Doctors Recruited to CB
The Nova Scotia Health Authority says five new doctors started working in Cape Breton last month out of 16 that have been recruited.
It adds 11 more will start work in the next six months.
The authority goes on to say four of the doctors are family doctors and 12 are specialists, including in psychiatry, radiology and emergency.
It adds there are ten more visits scheduled this summer for doctors who have expressed interest in coming to the island.
A member of the Cape Breton recruitment committee, Dr. Rex Dunn, says recruitment efforts were helped by local businesses and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
The Health Authority says local businessman Stuart MacLeod has arranged for financial support for a promotional video designed to attract doctors to the island.
The video is expected to be ready in the coming weeks.
