Domoslai Wants Lyle Howe As His New Lawyer
A Sydney man charged with arranging the murder of his ex-wife presented Halifax-based Lyle Howe as his new lawyer in court, this morning.
The trial for 53 year-old Roderick Domoslai was disrupted yesterday when his previous lawyer told the court she wanted to be removed as his solicitor.
Laura McCarthy is Howe’s wife.
She says there was a breakdown in solicitor-client relations surrounding ethical concerns.
Howe says he doesn’t think there’s any ethical reason he can’t take the case, even though he and McCarthy are with the same law firm.
However, he adds he’ll check with the Barrister’s Society to verify his eligibility to represent Domoslai.
Meanwhile, the cross examination of crown witness Erin Maxwell has been tentatively set for Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
The North Sydney man has already testified Domoslai paid him 20-thousand dollars to arrange for the killing of Domoslai’s ex-wife Dawn MacNeil.
Maxwell says he took the money but never intended to carry out the plan.
Justice Gregory Warner says another video conference call will be held with Howe on Monday morning to confirm his availability.
