Province Looking For ServiCom Bankruptcy, Today
The province is in court today in an effort to get bankruptcy declared for the owners of the former ServiCom call centre in Sydney.
The government says ServiCom Canada owes more than $4.8 million in unpaid wages, benefits and penalties.
It’s asking the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia to appoint a trustee for ServiCom.
The move will allow former ServiCom workers to apply for financial relief through Service Canada’s wage earner protection program.
ServiCom closed down its Sydney operation in December.
A new owner re-opened the call centre in January.
